Overview

History and heritage play a vital role in shaping societies by preserving cultural legacies, informing decision-making, fostering understanding and tolerance, inspiring creativity, and connecting people across time and space. They are integral to the fabric of society, contributing to its identity, progress, and overall well-being.

The past decades have seen the adoption of digital technologies, e.g. artificial intelligence (AI), visual- and spatial-computing, etc., within the domains of history and heritage. These technologies have contributed to profound changes within the community through knowledge discovery, and enhanced access to history and heritage information through digital platforms, through any of the digital manifestations and expressions that create awareness, value and impact in society.

Heritage science, and together with digital approaches used for transforming cultural heritage is at a juncture whereby AI-, and visual- and spatial- computing technologies can further empower not only the communities preserving and researching it, but also act as a bridge from which the public can be engaged, through the democratic adoption and use of generative AI and Metaverse technologies.

- BNBU Centre for Computational Culture and Heritage is committed to conducting advanced, interdisciplinary research in the fields of art, culture, history, and cultural heritage. Leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Metaverse technologies, the Centre seeks to develop innovative methods for presenting and disseminating research findings to both scholarly and public audiences.

- NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute focuses on cultivating expertise in two principal areas. The first is Deep Learning, where participants receive training in tools and environments such as Anaconda and Jupyter Lab. The second is Metaverse Technologies, providing instruction on leading platforms including NVIDIA Omniverse, Unity, and Unreal Engine. The centre will conduct training course provided by NVIDIA Deep Learning Insitute. Upon completion of the programme, participants are equipped to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to research projects and practical initiatives within the domains of art, culture, history, and cultural heritage.
