On April 2 and 7, 2026, Associate Professor in Practice Jie Wang from the Music Department of our School was invited by HuangShan University and Huzhou Vocational and Technical College to deliver academic lectures at the two institutions.
Huangshan University, a provincial comprehensive undergraduate institution in Anhui, was formed through the integration of the former Huizhou Normal School and related institutions, along with the Huizhou College program of the University of Science and Technology of China. The university is oriented toward local service, application-based education, and international development, and has achieved notable results in international cooperation. It has successfully passed a new round of evaluation for Sino-foreign cooperative education programs by the Ministry of Education, as well as teaching evaluations conducted by French partners. The university has signed cooperation agreements with 18 universities and educational institutions, including Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and maintains partnerships with 52 overseas institutions.

Huzhou Vocational and Technical College is the only public higher vocational institution established by the Huzhou Municipal People’s Government. It comprises ten schools, including those of Intelligent Manufacturing, Art and Design, and International Education, and demonstrates a high level of internationalization. The college has been selected as one of the first pilot institutions in the Ministry of Education’s Sino-German Advanced Vocational Education Cooperation Program. It has also established joint education programs with institutions such as the Management Development Institute of Singapore and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. The college is currently further strengthening cooperation with high-level universities in countries such as the United States and Germany, engaging in faculty exchange, student mobility, overseas study tours, and internship programs.
During the visit, Associate Professor Wang delivered a lecture entitled “Finding Passion Is Not Easy — The Light and Shadow of the Broadway Stage.” Through appreciation and analysis of musical theatre as a stage art form, she encouraged students to develop a genuine passion for the arts, to persevere in their pursuits, and to never give up. The lecture was rich in content and vividly presented. In particular, the interactive session brought the atmosphere to a climax.
Nearly one hundred students and faculty members from each institution attended the lectures. Participants unanimously commented that the lecture was academically rigorous yet accessible, and that the lively classroom atmosphere greatly stimulated student interest. Heads of the music and arts departments at both institutions remarked that the lecture was highly meaningful, with a refreshing teaching approach that not only broadened students’ perspectives but also promoted inter-institutional exchange.
