On November 12, 2025, all students in the "Cultural Heritage and Tourism" course, led by Ms. Wanqi WAN, lecturer of the Culture, Creativity and Management program (CCM), and assistant instructor Ms. Yi XIE, visited the Zhuhai Museum and Planning Exhibition Hall for a field visit.

The Zhuhai Museum and Planning Exhibition Hall are located in the Old Xiangzhou area, an emblematic district of the Zhuhai city, partially reclaimed from the sea. Constructed side by side, the museum's structure extends horizontally to the south, while the planning hall rises in a spiral to the north. The building exterior is sleek and vibrant.

Overall outlook of the Museum and Exhibition Hall

Upon arrival, students first freely explored the museum area, tracing the city's developmental trajectory from a stove, a handful of salt, and a piece of land to an entire city. Thematic and permanent exhibits are spread across three floors, with visitor paths extending both on the ground and above. The exhibits and panels are artfully arranged, either resting on the floor or suspended, immersing visitors in vivid depictions of historical scenes and lively figures, making the experience both dynamic and engaging.

Students paid special attention to the traditional arts and folklore artifacts hall. This hall showcases local Zhuhai folk culture as well as renowned figures and families. Using Chinese traditional 24 solar terms as an entry point, it aligns different festivals with these terms, correlating various local customs in Zhuhai, focusing on intangible cultural heritage, with a clear theme, novel content, and unique exhibition style.

Finally, students briefly visited the Zhuhai Planning Exhibition Hall, gaining insight into ecological topics like wetland restoration and mangrove protection.

Students were observing and recording key points of city planning

Some students expressed that the museum's presentations deepened their understanding of intangible cultural heritage. Additionally, they unexpectedly encountered fishermen using traditional methods along the seaside after leaving the museum, which reinforced their perception that intangible cultural heritage exists not only within the confines of the museum but also in everyday life. Integrating indoor and outdoor experiences, the students concluded their enriching field study.
