MAYFLY

Muyang YU, Tan TAN

Installation

60×40×40 cm

Supervisor: Mr. Junyan HE

The installation is driven by a single motor to swing multiple sets of robotic arms, simulating the flapping rhythm of mayfly wings. The work is inspired by Gilgamesh's epic, where the day of the mayfly and the eternity of the river are eternal: individual lives are short, but the natural rhythm is eternal. The installation operates at a certain rhythm and becomes a constant reference, to intuitively feel the relativity of time, and realize the difference between personal perception and physical time.
