I am YANG Zhongjie from the Class of 2023 of the MA in Communication program-- Film, TV & New Media Concentration (FTNM), School of Culture and Creativity.
The year from 2023 to 2024 was a turning point in my life, and also the most important one. I can no longer remember what gave me the courage to leave a stable life and come to BNBU for graduate studies – it almost feels like it was destined.
The conditions at BNBU were almost too good for me. Whether in terms of faculty or hardware and software, everything was top-notch. In my courses at BNBU, I could engage in close dialogue with academic giants and industry leaders, which benefited me enormously.
I was also very fortunate to meet a group of outstanding, like-minded team members in my courses. We learned from each other and improved together. To get inspiration for our final assignments, we even went to the seaside to overhaul our PPTs, and in the end we delivered perfect presentations.
One of my goals in coming to BNBU was to transition into the game industry. Besides my studies, I never planned to rest when it came to employment. I seized every online and on-campus recruitment opportunity I could. In November 2023, I received an internship offer from西山居 (Seasun Games). To balance my studies and work, I could only take one day off every two weeks. I understood that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – no matter how tiring, I had to persevere.
Until graduation in June 2024, it felt like waking up from a dream. That one year at BNBU completely transformed me. I am grateful to every teacher and every classmate…
Of course, "waking from the dream" does not mean the end of the connection. In April 2025, I returned to the school with the dual identity of a Seasun Games employee and a BNBU alumnus to help with the campus recruitment fair. At the event, I felt the enthusiastic expectations of the younger students – which was beyond my expectations. The feeling of coming home is wonderful, and I believe the story with BNBU will continue for a long time to come!
